Matt Bourque was named Senior Associate Commissioner at America East in 2012 after serving the conference for the previous 15 years as associate or assistant commissioner. In his role, Bourque oversees all external efforts including marketing and promotions, licensing, and media endeavors. He serves as the conference liaison with ESPN,
In addition, Bourque directs the conference’s regular-season scheduling and policy implementation for men’s and women’s basketball, and administers the America East Men’s Basketball Playoffs.
A 1989 graduate of the University of Maine, an America East charter member, Bourque served one year as assistant sports information director at his alma mater before becoming sports information director in 1990. His work was cited by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) numerous times, including in 1993 when his essay of the Black Bear ice hockey team’s national championship was named “Best in the Nation” in the feature writing category.
Bourque has also served as an instructor in the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University where he has taught classes in the Master’s in Sports Leadership program.
Bourque and his wife, Andrea, reside in Charlestown, Mass.
