Tainsh in is his 10th year as Director of Communications at America East. He oversees all aspects of communications and public relations for the conference, manages the league's online presence, oversees the championship streaming package and is the primary administrative sport contact for select sports.
Tainsh serves as the primary media relations contact for several sports, including men’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, field hockey and softball. In that role, he acts as conference communications liaison between the member institutions’ media relations contacts, administrators and the media and writes daily and weekly releases and oversees communications aspects of those championships among other duties.
In addition, Tainsh manages the conference website, serving as the primary liaison between the conference and its web partner. He also assists with AmericaEast.TV, the conference's digital network, which aired over 750 live events and over 1,000 pieces of On-Demand content in its last year. Additoinally, Tainsh oversees the conference's championship streaming package and assists with all television intitatives.
Tainsh, also the conference's administrative contact and championship director for field hockey and softball, arrived at America East from Simmons College where he had served as Sports Information Director for 14 months. He oversaw all external relations there, including media relations, marketing and promotions for the athletic department. Prior to that, Tainsh worked as Athletic Media Relations Assistant at conference-member University at Albany for the 2005-06 academic year.
In addition to his work at America East, Tainsh has also has served as a statistician for ESPN broadcasts, including several college basketball games and the 2012 Men's Lacrosse Final Four. As a member of CoSIDA, Tainsh is a District Coordinator for the organization’s Academic All-America Committee, helping to honor hundreds of student-athletes each year and serves on the organization's University Division Management Advisory Council. He also was a member of the media coordianation team at the 2009 and 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship East Regionals and the 2012 Final Four.
Tainsh graduated from Ithaca College in 2005 as a sports information and communications major and a journalism minor. He received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from his alma mater in 2011.The Barrington, R.I. native now resides in Danvers, Mass. with his wife, Lindsey, and son, Liam.
