The America East Women's Soccer Championship semifinals are set after a pair of thrilling quarterfinal contests on Thursday night. Fourth-seeded New Hampshire took advantage of a first-half goal to beat No. 5 Maine, 1-0, while No. 6 Vermont upset No. 3 Stony Brook in penalty kicks.
Senior Lilly Radack scored her first career goal in the 15th minute to put the Wildcats into the semifinals for the second time in three years. UNH will travel to face top-seeded Albany on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.
Vermont needed penalty kicks to complete the upset against No. 3 Stony Brook, as neither team could breakthrough during 110 minutes of action. The Catamounts beat the Seawolves, 3-1, in penalty kicks with goalkeeper Coco Speckmaier stopping one shot while Meg James, Casey Garfinkle and Caitie Green all converted on their tries.The Catamounts will travel to face No. 2 Hartford on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
