Release: 01/24/2017

BOSTON - For the fifth-straight season, the Albany Great Danes are the favorites in America East men's lacrosse according to the conference's 2017 preseason coaches' poll announced Tuesday. The Great Danes, ranked 13th in the USILA preseason poll, were a unanimous selection, receiving all six possible first-place votes and 36 points in a vote of the league’s seven head coaches who were not allowed to vote for their own team.

Albany, which captured its fourth-consecutive America East regular-season title and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship last season, was followed in second by reigning conference champion Hartford, which earned the final first-place tally and 28 points. Vermont, which appeared in its first-ever America East title game last year, was a close third with 27 points. Hartford and Vermont are two of four America East programs with first-year head coaches in 2017 along with UMBC and Binghamton.
