Stony Brook Unanimous #AEWLAX Preseason Favorite

BOSTON - The four-time reigning champion Stony Brook Seawolves are the unanimous favorites to take home the America East women's lacrosse title again according to the 2017 preseason coaches' poll. The Seawolves received all six possible first-place votes and 36 points in a vote of the league’s seven head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own team.

The University at Albany, which lost to Stony Brook in the 2016 America East title game, was picked second with 31 points, New Hampshire came in third with 23 points, followed by UMBC in fourth with 21 points. Vermont (18) and Binghamton (12) came in fifth and sixth, respectively. UMass Lowell, which is in its third season as a program, rounded out the poll in seventh.

The America East women's lacrosse programs have become one of the most competitive conference's in the country. Stony Brook has led the way with four-straight appearances in the NCAA second round and starts this year ranked fourth in both the Inside Lacrosse and US Lacrosse/Nike polls.
