Chelsey Canavan is the Video Intern for the 2011-2012 year at America
East. Her responsibilities as the Video Intern include telling the stories of America
East via video productions, featuring the twenty conference sports, nine member
institutions, and the student-athletes, coaching staffs and communities. She
will also serve as host of the conference's web show, "America East Online" and
assist in promoting the conference through social media.
Canavan graduated in May 2011 summa cum laude from conference member
institution University of New Hampshire with a B.A. in Communication and Media
Practices.
Throughout her four years at UNH, Canavan worked as a student-athlete
tutor, worked as a coffee shop clerk and worked at UNH's Media and Public
Relations office as a video/communication intern. Canavan was also a member of
the women's track and field team, received the title of captain during her
senior year and is a member of the record-holding 4x400 meter relay teams.
During her four years of study at UNH, Canavan served two years on an
undergraduate communication research journal editing student submissions, while
also working on the publicity and fundraising committees as well as serving as
the new media chair. Canavan also participated in an independent study with a
nonprofit organization. She was awarded with the Wilburn Sims Memorial Award
for her excellence in scholarship, service, community, and character which is
presented to a senior communication student at the University of New Hampshire.
The Boston-born native currently resides in Stoneham, Mass.
