Five America East field hockey programs are ranked in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I poll giving America East the second-highest number of nationally ranked teams, trailing only the ACC.
Boston University comes in at No. 11, while University at Albany is 20th, University of New Hampshire is 21st and University of Maine and Fairfield University are tied for 23rd. Last season, America East finished with the third highest conference RPI in the nation, trailing only the ACC and Big East. The Terriers won their first five games of the season, including a 2-1 decision over then 17th-ranked Boston College on Sept. 7, before falling to No. 2 Syracuse on Sept. 9, 2-0. The Great Danes are 2-3 with wins over Delaware and Hofstra, while the Wildcats are also 2-3 and beat Brown and Holy Cross by a combined score of 17-4. The Black Bears (3-4) and Stags (4-2) are the two hottest teams in the league, having won two and four straight, respectively. |
