Men's soccer conference play continued this weekend and Binghamton, Boston U. and Vermont picked up wins.

Friday, October 5


Boston U. 2, at Stony Brook 1 (OT) -- Box Score | Recap
Stony Brook, N.Y.

•     For the second straight year, Dominique Badji scored an overtime goal to give Boston Un. (4-5-3, 1-0-1 AE) a 2-1 win over Stony Brook (7-3-1, 1-1-1 AE).
•    Badji's score, which came off a feed from Michael Bustamante in the 96th minute, snapped the Seawolves' six-game unbeaten streak.
•    Berian Gobeil Cruz gave Stony Brook a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute on his third goal of the year and that score held until Carlos Ruiz converted a turnover into a goal in the 78th minute, which tied the game 1-1.
•    The game drew 1,376 fans, the most ever for a soccer game at LaValle Stadium.


Saturday, October 6

at Vermont 3, Hartford 2 -- Box Score | Recap | Highlights | Photos
Burlington, Vt.

•    Vermont (5-4-3, 2-0-0 AE) scored twice in a 26 second span to overcome a 2-1 deficit and beat
Hartford (6-5-1, 0-1-1 AE) 3-2 on Saturday.
•    D.J. Edler and Joe Losier each scored a goal and had an assist for the Vermont. Zach Paul added the game winner in the 68th minute.
•    Javoni Simms scored his eighth goal of the year for Hartford, which ranks second among league leaders. Rohan Royce also found the back of the net.
•    The Catamounts, who are tied atop the league standings at 2-0-0 in America East play along with Binghamton, are 4-1-3 in their last eight games.

 

Binghamton 1, at Albany 0-- Box Score | Recap | Highlights
Albany N.Y.

•    Austin Hughes scored the long goal of the game in the 44th minute to lift Binghamton (6-5-0, 2-0-0 AE) to its third straight victory, a 1-0 win over Albany (2-9-0, 0-2-0 AE) Saturday night.
•    Hughes headed in a corner kick and Stefano Frantellizzi stopped the only shot he faced to record his first career shutout.
•    Binghamton is off to its first 2-0-0 start in conference play since 2007 and is riding its first three-game win streak since September of 2009.


UMBC 1, at New Hampshire 1 (2OT) -- Box Score | Recap
Durham, N.H.


•    UMBC (5-3-4, 0-1-1 AE) and UNH (4-4-3, 0-1-1) played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie in Durham Saturday night.
•    Alex Hussein gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute on a header off Robert Palumbo's free kick.
•    Milo Kapor tied the contest in the 77th minute on a penalty kick, his third goal of the season.
