CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The 2008 America East Tennis Championship will be held at the Yale Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn. Friday, April 25 through Sunday April 27. The men’s and women’s championships are team-match format with finals scheduled to be held on Sunday at 11 a.m. Both conference champions receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championships. Boston University, which has won 14 straight America
East Women’s Tennis Championships and 18 of the 19 title events in
league history, is again the top seed on the women’s side. UMBC is the second seed, while Binghamton University is seeded third. Stony Brook University
is the No. 4 seed, University at Albany is seeded No. 5. and University of Hartford rounds out the field as the No. 6 seed. Binghamton is the top seed in the men’s field, followed by defending champion UMBC, which is seeded second. Stony Brook, the 2006 champion, is No. 3 seed spot, while No. 4 Boston University and No. 5 Hartford round out the five-team field. The Hawks won championships in 2002, 1995, 1990 and 1989, while Boston U. captured titles in 1996, 1994, 1993 and 1988.
