Binghamton's Casares Chosen Women's Soccer Fans' Choice Player of Year

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Binghamton University senior midfielder Mandy Casares has been selected the America East Women's Soccer Fans' Choice Player of the Year through a vote conducted on AmericaEast.com. Casares received 30 percent, 547 of the nearly 2,000 votes. University of Maine senior forward Laura Martel was second (384) and Boston University senior midfielder Emily Pallotta was third (258).

Casares has five points on the season and controls the game for Binghamton, which posted its best record (9-6-1 overall, 6-2-0 America East) since 2005 and earned the No. 2 seed for the upcoming championship. A second-team all-conference each of the past two years and athird-team all-region choice in 2008, Casares is one of two Bearcats to play every minute of every game this season.

Voting for the Fans' Choice Player of the Year ran from October 20-26 with one player of each member institution named to the ballot.
