CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – UMBC swimmers and divers sweep the conference weekly awards in the final competition before the America East Swimming and Diving Championship.

Reed Neuendorf (Blauvelth, N.Y./Tappan Zee) and Andrew Eckhoff (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) take home the Male Swimmer and Diver of the Week awards while Katie Bean (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) collects Female Diver of the Week honors. There were no female swimmers this week.

At the Terrapin Invitational, Neuendorf picked up two wins in the 400 IM (4:02.28) and the 500 freestyle (4:38.10). His time in the 400 IM places tenth on UMBC’s all-time list.

Eckhoff collects his sixth Male Diver of the Week award this season. Competing at Drexel, Eckhoff swept both diving events. In the three-meter event, the junior broke his own school record with a score of 361.20. He won the one-meter competition with a score of 283.42.

Bean competed at Drexel and swept both diving events, as well. She scored a season-best 229.20 points in the one-meter event. She won the three-meter with 223.27 points. The two wins were the first of the freshman’s career.

The UMBC swimming and diving teams split up this weekend to compete at both the Terrapin Invitational and against Drexel in Philadelphia. Reed Neuendorf led the Retrievers in College Park with two wins in the 400 IM and the 500 freestyle. Patrick Bryan (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and Mark Tracy (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelsmford) also picked up victories in the 200 IM and 100 fly, respectively. At Drexel, Andrew Eckhoff continued his dominance on the boards sweeping both diving events for the Retrievers. For the women, Katie Bean won her first two events of her collegiate career as she swept the diving events, as well.
