CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The 2012-13 America East indoor track & field season will get underway on Saturday and Albany is looking to continue its recent success for both the men and the women.

The Albany men are chasing an eighth straight championship and ninth in the last ten years. Among the Great Danes' returners is defending pentathlon champion Alfon Scannapieco. Also in the hunt will be Binghamton after a third-place finish at last year's America East Championship. The Bearcats will be led by sophomore Cal Michaels.

On the women's side, both Albany and UMBC look strong coming into the season. Albany will look to senior Patricia McNish, who is the defending champion in the long jump and the triple jump, while UMBC is counting on the Most Outstanding Rookie from last year's championship, Mercedes Jackson. UMBC is looking to become just the fifth school in America East history to win the women's indoor championship.
