Saturday was a good day for America East's men's basketball teams as six of the nine squads posted wins, including Albany over Siena in the annual Albany Cup game. Boston University, Hartford, UMBC, New Hampshire and Stony Brook also earned victories. The Great Danes (6-2) scored 17 points off 18 Siena turnovers en route to a 69-56 win, their third straight. Mike Black and Jacob Iati each had 13 points for Albany, which improved to 6-2 for the first time in the program's Division I history. Maurice Watson, Jr. scored a career-best 21 points and added seven assists to lead Boston U. to a 74-66 win at St. Peter's, its second consecutive victory. Hartford (4-3) won its third straight, a 48-45 win over Holy Cross, to move over .500 for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign. UMBC (2-5) got a combined 41 of its 66 points from Ryan Cook and Brett Roseboro in a 66-62 win over Towson. Stony Brook (6-2) got a game-high 16 points off its bench from Marcus Rouse to beat Eastern Illinois, 66-52, and matched its best-ever eight-game start as a Division I program. Also Saturday, Binghamton (2-6) led most of the way against St. Peter's, but was edged, 71-70, despite 17 points from Jordan Reed. Vermont (4-2) had its three-game win streak snapped at Rhode Island with a 76-66 loss. Duquesne snapped Maine's (2-5) two-game win streak with an 87-73 win. On Monday, the Bearcats will host Monmouth in the lone game of the day at 7 p.m. Binghamton's Jordan Reed leads America East in both scoring (17.5 ppg) and rebounding (10.3 rpg).
