Boston U. Wins 10th-Straight as Part of Wednesday Night's Action

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Home teams went 3-1 in Wednesday night's America East women's basketball action in the third night of conference play.

Boston U. (13-3, 3-0) pushed its win streak to 10 with a 58-30 win over Vermont (4-11, 1-1). After the Catamounts cut the Boston U. lead to six at 16-10 midway through the first half, the Terriers went on an 18-2 run to end the first 20 minutes and take a 34-12 lead into halftime. Rashidat Agboola led three Terriers in double figures with 13 points, while Chantell Alford added 11 points and six rebounds and Mo Moran had 12 points. The Terrier defense held the Catamounts to 24.4-percent shooting in the game.

Stony Brook (10-6, 2-1) held Binghamton (2-14, 1-2) 21.8-percent shooting to notch a 56-34 win over the Bearcats. Chikilra Goodman had a game-high 16 points. Binghamton trailed 11-10 in the early stages, but the Seawolves scored 24 of the next 29 points to take a 35-15 lead with just over a minute to go in the first half.

New Hampshire (6-9, 1-2) held off UMBC (5-11, 1-2), 63-62, to notch its first conference win of the season. The Retrievers trailed by just two points with less than 30 seconds to go when Bria White had her pass picked off by Ariel Gaston. Cari Reed then hit a pair of free throws to put UNH up four, 60-56. The Retrievers hit a pair of 3-pointers later to make it 63-62 with less than two seconds to go, but the Wildcats dribbled the clock out. New Hampshire was led by 20 points and 12 rebounds from Morgan Frame, while UMBC got 22 points and nine rebounds from Bria White.

Hartford (10-6, 1-2) avoided its second-straight 0-3 start in America East play with a 52-37 win at Maine (1-14, 0-2). After a Danielle Walczak layup put the Black Bears down just two to start the second half, Hartford went on a 12-3 run to take a commanding 37-22 lead. maine closed to single digits just one more time in the game. Nikkia Smith paced the Hawks with 15 points and eight boards.
