Home Teams Go 4-0 in Men's Basketball Action Saturday

Every America East men's basketball teams playing at home Saturday was victorious as the four teams all won by double-digit margins. Albany, Boston University, Stony Brook and Vermont all won on their home floors as home teams improved to 13-4 in conference play.

Stony Brook (12-4, 3-0 AE) downed Hartford (10-7, 3-1 AE), 73-59, in a battle of the final two unbeatens in conference play. The Seawolves, who improved on the program's best-ever Division I start and have won four straight and 11 of their last 13 games, had four players score 15 points or more, led by Tommy Brenton's stat-stuffing day. He had 16 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Evan Cooper had a career-high 17 points for Hartford.

Albany (14-4, 3-1 AE) improved to 7-1 at SEFCU Arena by shooting 52 percent after halftime and scoring 45 second-stanza points. Mike Black led the Great Danes with a career-high 28 points while Sam Rowley had his second-consecutive double-double (10 points, 13 rebounds). Alasdair Fraser paced the Black Bears with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Boston U. (8-9, 2-2 AE) shot 55 percent from the floor and handed Binghamton (2-15, 0-4 AE) its 11th-straight defeat with an 83-59 victory. The Terriers canned a season-high 12 three-pointers and used a 22-2 run midway through the second half to blow the game open. D.J. Irving led four Terriers in twin figures with 16 points and seven assists. Jimmy Gray had a game-high 16 for the Bearcats.

Vermont (10-6, 3-1 AE) scored 25 points off 19 UMBC (3-14, 1-3 AE) turnovers en route to a 68-53 win, third in four games. The Catamounts used a decisive 22-7 second-half run to put the game away. Clancy Rugg paced UVM with a career-high 19 points and nine rebounds, while Ethan O'Day added 11 to go with five rebounds. Chase Plummer led the Retrievers with 17 points off the bench.
