Eighth Season of America East On Campus Debuts Saturday

Release: 01/18/2013

STONY BROOK, N.Y.  --  America East On Campus, the conference's half hour magazine show that examines what's happening around America East on the playing field, in the classroom and in the community and highlights the league's extraordinary stories, returns for its eighth season this weekend.

Airing in HD for the second straight year, the show will be televised up and down the east coast, with a reach from North Carolina to upstate New York as well as Maine. This year's debut episode will air on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. on Time Warner Cable Sports Central in New York. The show will have subsequent airings on the TWCS affiliate in Albany as well as on Comcast SportsNet in New England and Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) in the country's Mid-Atlantic region.

The season debut is set at Stony Brook, where host Eric Frede talked with the Seawolves' athletic director Jim Fiore about his school's incredible 2012, which resulted in seven America East titles, a national champion and the baseball team's run to the College World Series. The show also takes an in-depth look at men's and women's basketball as conference season wraps up its second week. Frede sat down with several of America East's head coaches and looks at contenders for this year's America East title.

Frede also visited with America East Commissioner Amy Huchthausen for a look at the state of the conference. Additionally, the episode looks back at the fall season, which saw seven of the league's nine schools taking home championship trophies or regular-season titles as well as a men's soccer team advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament for the eighth time in 11 years.

Episode One concludes by highlighting the conference's partnership with the You Can Play Project. America East, the first college conference to team up with the project, will
help educate and change the culture regarding the treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender athletes in the locker room and on the playing field.

America East On Campus is produced by Cod Rock Media of Kittery, Maine, which is owned by Frede and Dan Hannigan. Four original episodes will be produced and distributed this year on CSN, MASN and TWCS.

The show will also be available in the All-Access section of and on the conference's YouTube page following the debut airing. iPhone and Android users with the America East On the Go premium app can also watch the show on those devices.
