CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second time in three weeks, UMBC takes home all four weekly America East swimming and diving honors. Lauri Kaei is the Male Swimmer of the Week while Andrew Eckhoff takes home another Male Diver of the Week honor. On the women’s side Claire Barron and Katie Bean have been named Female Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively.

Kaei (Harjumaa, Estonia) was a part of four total victories against East Carolina, including two individual golds. The sophomore pushed his dual meet season win total to nine by touching the wall first in the 100 back (52.31) and the 100 fly (51.91). Kaei also led off for both of the Retrievers relay victories and has been a part of 11 relay wins on the year. His efforts helped lead UMBC men to an undefeated dual meet season (7-0), which is just the second in school history.

Eckhoff (Chelmsford, Mass.) collected his seventh weekly award of the season after taking second in both diving events over the weekend. The senior had a score of 342.45 on the three-meter boards, which is his second-best of the season. Eckhoff also scored a 302.92 on the one-meter boards, marking the fifth time this year he has gone over 300 points in the one-meter competition.

Barron (Lowestoft, England) had an individual win and lent a hand to a pair of relay wins. The senior captured the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.22, which is her best time this season. Barron also swam the second leg for the 200 medley relay quartet, which set a pool record with a time of 1:46.06, and for the victorious 400 relay team.

Bean (Mechanicsville, Va.) earned her fourth dual meet victory of the year against East Carolina. The sophomore won on the one-meter boards for the third time this season with a score of 248.10. Bean recorded the top score in the conference on the one-meter boards earlier this season.
