CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Two of America East's top guards have earned the conference's men's basketball weekly awards for the week ending Feb. 24, which were announced Monday afternoon.

Boston University's D.J. Irving averaged over 17 points per game and led Boston University to a pair of wins en route to earning Player of the Week honors, while Binghamton University's Jordan Reed tallied a monster double-double in his team's lone game of the week to earn Rookie of the Week honors.

Irving (Philadelphia, Pa.) averaged 17.5 points, 2.5 assists and shot 55 percent from the field serving as a key reason the Terriers extended their win streak to six games last week. The junior guard, whose Player of the Week honor is the third of his career, scored 18 points in a win over Albany Wednesday, then scored 17, including the 1,000th of his career, in a win at UMBC Saturday. For the week, Irving hit 11-of-21 shots, including 7-of-12 from three-point range.

Reed (Philadelphia, Pa.) picked up his sixth Rookie of the Week honor of the season by totaling 24 points, 16 rebounds and five assists, which were game-highs in all three categories, in Binghamton's lone game of the week, a loss at New Hampshire Saturday. The freshman guard, who is on pace to become the first freshman to ever lead the league in both scoring and rebounding, hit 9-of-19 field goal tries and recorded his league-best 12th double-double of the season.
