Trio Earns Softball Player of the Week Accolades

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Three America East softball players  took home America East weekly accolades Monday afternoon for the week ending March 10.

UMBC's Kayla Margentino earned Player of the Week honors, while Hartford's Zuzana Kudernatschova was Pitcher of the Week and Binghamton's Lisa Cadogan was Rookie of the Week.

Margentino (Unionville, Conn.) hit a team-best .571 (4-for-7) for the Retrievers in two games and drove in two of the team's four runs, including a walk-off single to give UMBC a 3-2 victory against Howard Sunday. The sophomore first baseman Margentino had a .625 on-base percentage, also walking once.

Kudernatschova (Statenice, Czech Republic) fired a two-hit shutout in Hartford's 1-0 win over Manhattan Saturday. The junior transfer gave up just two hits, surrendered two walks and struck out three.

Cadogan (Orange, Calif.) hit a team-best .500 in leading Binghamton to a 2-1 performance at the Maryland/Miken Invitational. She homered in all three games, added a double, drove in five runs and recorded a .583 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage.
