CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – UMBC junior Brandon Coluccio was named America East Player of the Week, while Maine junior Tommy Lawrence earned Pitcher of the Week honors and freshman Jake Marks was named Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

The three were honored for their performances during the first weekend of conference play that saw Maine, UMBC and Hartford get off to 2-1 starts while Stony Brook, Binghamton and Albany were all 1-2.

Coluccio (Freehold, N.J.) had seven hits in 11 at-bats to help UMBC take two of three from Binghamton to open the conference season and earn Player of the Week. He was second in the conference in batting average at .583, while leading the league in slugging (.750) for the week. Coluccio went three-for-three in a series-opening win, driving in one run, scoring two and hitting two doubles. He follow that with a two-for-three performance in game two and a two-for-five day with two RBI and one run scored in the series finale.
