CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After leading the conference in hitting for the week, Albany junior outfielder Josh Nethaway earned America East baseball Player of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday. Also earning weekly awards were Binghamton’s Jake Lambert, who was named Pitcher of the Week, and Stony Brook’s Daniel Zamora, who was named Rookie of the Week.

Nethaway (Fonda, N.Y.) hit .500 (10-for-20) for the week with a .750 slugging percentage and led Albany to a 3-1 record, including a series win over Hartford. He totaled five RBI, two doubles, a home run and three runs scored in four games. With one out in the bottom of the 12th inning, Nethaway played hero with his fourth hit of the game -- a walk-off game-winning double -- leading the Danes to a 10-9 victory over the Hawks in Sunday’s rubber match. In the 23-8 game one win against Hartford, Nethaway finished a triple shy of the cycle as he went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in, two runs scored, pounding out a double, home run, and single in his first three at-bats. Nethaway also recorded multiple hits in UAlbany’s 8-6 win over St. John’s University -- the reigning BIG EAST champion and 2012 Super Regional participant. On the season, Nethaway owns a team-high .352 batting average, while also hitting .386 in conference play.

Lambert (La Jolla, Calif.) improved to 4-1 on season with eight shutout innings vs. UMBC. Lambert equaled his career-high with nine strikeouts while allowing only two hits. He retired the side in order in the second, fifth, sixth and eighth innings and lowered season ERA to 3.79. Lambert has 36 strikeouts in 38 inning pitched against America East foes.

Zamora (La Puente, Calif.) delivered his most effective performance of the season when the Seawolves needed him most on Sunday against Maine. Stony Brook was faced with potentially being swept on the road at Maine when Zamora tossed eight shutout innings and matched his career high in strikeouts with nine as the Seawolves beat the Black Bears 1-0 in 10 innings on Sunday. He held Maine hitless in seven at-bats with runners in scoring position. Zamora now has a 3.13 ERA in six conference starts and has struck out 32 batters in his last 27-1/3 innings.
