EUGENE, Ore. -- All nine America East track & field student-athletes who competed at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship last week earned All-America recognition, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Monday.

Boston University's Katie Matthews, who was also crowned America East Woman of the Year last week, led the way by earning first-team honors via a fifth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run. The senior, who previously earned four other All-America citations in her career including a pair during the 2013 indoor season, posted a mark of 33:43.26 in Eugene.

Albany's Alexander Bowen and the Terriers' Zach Ray each earned second-team recognition. Bowen tied for 11th in the high jump, clearing 7-2.50 (2.20m), while Ray reached the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles, placing 14th.

Joining that trio as honorable mention honorees was Albany's Alfonso Scannapieco (pole vault), Boston U.'s Rich Peter's (1,500 meters), Maine's Corey Conner (10,000 meters) and Jess Labreck (heptathalon) and UMBC's Mercedes Jackson (100 meters) and Vincent Rentzsch (javelin).

The nine All-Americans raises America East's total for the 2012-13 season to 28.
