Three Men's Soccer Teams Regionally Ranked
In addition to UMBC being nationally ranked, the Retrievers are also ranked regionally along with two other America East men's soccer teams. UMBC, which is 4-0 on the young season, is ranked third in this week's NSCAA/Continental Tire Division I Men's Northeast regional rankings after coming in fourth last week. Two other unbeaten squads, Hartford (2-0-1) and Vermont (3-0-1) are eighth and tied for ninth, respectively.
Binghamton Men's Tennis Standout Nationally Ranked
Binghamton's Sidharta Hazarika is ranked in Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) first individual rankings of the 2013-14 season. Hazarika, a sophomore, is ranked No. 122 to start the year. Last season, he went 21-4 in singles play and was named America East's Player and Rookie of the Year.
Albany Alum Featured in Inside Lacrosse Magazine
Inside Lacrosse's Casey Vock has an inspiring story about former Albany lacrosse standout Aaron Eleby. Eleby, a member of the U.S. Army's Special Forces Team in Afghanistan, was a defender at Albany in the early 2000's and a member of the Great Danes' first America East Championship team in 2002. He credits lacrosse with helping turning his life around and has used it to bring a sense of normalcy to a life he's dedicated to serving his country. Story
Lyle Honored Again For Valor
Already a recipient of an America East Award of Valor, New Hampshire's Cam Lyle received an honor of the same name from the ECAC Tuesday. Lyle gave up his chance to complete his college career as a thrower on the UNH track & field team to donate bone marrow to a young man who needed a transfer to save his life. Lyle is up for the NCAA Award of Valor as well.
