Albany's Lane, UNH Duo Grab Weekly Awards #3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Albany’s women’s team had an impressive weekend as they raced past regionally ranked cross country teams to break into the top-15 Northeast Teams for the first time this season. As a result, the Great Danes earn one of the two Co-Women’s Performers of the Week. Here are this week’s top-performers:

Men’s Performer of the Week
Kent Harlow, Sr., New Hampshire
Burnt Hills, N.Y.

  • Finished third overall in the University of Maine meet with an 8k time of 25:41.
  • New Hampshire finished second behind regionally ranked Maine, earning 37 points on the day.

Around the League

  • University of Hartford’s Andrew Dwyer placed 8th overall with an 8k time of 26:26 at the Ted Owen Invitational hosted by Central Connecticut State.
  • Christopher Buchanan was the first finisher for Albany at the Br. Doyle Meet of Champions.
  • Three America East Men’s teams remain regionally ranked by USTFCCCA, including Maine (12th - Northeast), Stony Brook (14th - Northeast) and UMBC (13th – Mid-Atlantic).


Women’s Co-Performer of the Week

Chelsey Serrano, Jr., New Hampshire
Manchester, N.H.

  • Paced her way to a first-place finish at the University of Maine’s 5K course.
  • She finished the race with a time of 17:51.20, averaging 5:45 minutes a mile.
  • Led the way for the Wildcats’ road-victory at Maine.
  • New Hampshire remains at No. 14 in the latest USTFCCCA Northeast Rankings.

Women’s Co-Performer of the Week
Brittney Lane, Sr., Albany
Greenwich, N.Y.

  • Finished fourth in a field of 207 women’s cross country runners at the Br. Doyle Meet of Champions.
  • Earned a 6k time of 22:44.33 to help Albany top 20 other teams, including regionally ranked Iona (6th), Yale (9th) and Brown (11th).
  • The team’s impressive feat earned them a spot at No. 15 in the most recent USTFCCCA Northeast Regional Rankings, for the first time this season.

Around the League

  • Binghamton’s Caitlin Jelinek finished fourth overall in the Buffalo Stampede 5k.
  • Stony Brook, Vermont and New Hampshire continued to be ranked by the USTFCCCA Northeast Regional rankings at No. 12, 13 and 14, respectively.
