Albany Sweeps #AEFH Weekly Accolades

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Albany, the 12-ranked field hockey team in the nation, won two games by a combined score of 14-0 over the weekend and swept America East weekly honors as a result:

Player of the Week
Fiori Van Rijswijk, So., Albany
Blarcium, Netherlands

  • Led Albany to wins over Vermont and Columbia by tallying two goals, an assist and a defensive save.
  • Had an assist and a defensive save in Saturday's 8-0 win over Vermont.
  • Scored twice in the Great Danes' 6-0 victory at Columbia Sunday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Maxi Primus, Fr., Albany
Berlin, Germany

  • The sophomore goalkeeper registered two shutouts, in Albany's wins over Vermont and Columbia last weekend.
  • The clean sheets were her sixth and seventh of the season.
  • Primus leads the league with a 0.83 GAA.

Rookie of the Week
Paula Heuser, Fr., Albany
Monchengladbach, Germany

  • Racked up five points in Albany's 8-0 win over Vermont Saturday
  • Scored three goals and had an assist against the Catamounts.
  • The Rookie of the Week honor is her fourth of the season and third in five weeks.
  • Hauser ranks second among league leaders with 30 points on 12 goals and six assists.

Around the League

  • Albany, which is ranked 12th in the nation, holds a half-game lead on New Hampshire for first place in the America East standings after the Great Danes beat Vermont Saturday to move to 2-0.
  • Meg Flatley's overtime goal lifted UNH to a 3-2 win over Maine in its America East opener.
  • Fairfield fell at Harvard and had its six-game win streak snapped.
  • Maine bounced back from its loss to UNH with a 3-2 in over Northeastern.
  • The Black Bears have won five-straight non-league games.
  • Albany beat Columbia, 6-0, Sunday.
  • The Great Danes have an impressive +55 goal differential this season.
