CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Four former all-conference honorees are featured on the 2013 America East Preseason All-Conference Team, the conference office announced Tuesday. The five-player team was voted on by the nine women’s basketball coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
The team includes University at Albany duo Shereesha Richards and Megan Craig, Hartford’s Amber Bepko, New Hampshire’s Kelsey Hogan and Stony Brook’s Sabre Proctor. Here's a look at each of the selections:
Shereesha Richards, So., Albany
2012-13 America Co-Rookie of the Year
Led the America East with a 61.1 field goal percentage
Averaged 10.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game
Member of 2012-13 All-Rookie Team
Megan Craig, Jr., Albany
2013 America East Championship Most Outstanding Player
Averaged 11.5 points in the America East tournament including 16 points in the title game.
Ranked ninth in the conference in scoring (10.6 ppg) and second in field goal percentage (54.9)
Selected to All-Conference Third Team.
Amber Bepko, Jr., Hartford
Member of 2012-13 All-Conference Second Team
Ranked fifth in the conference with 44 3-pointers
Fourth in the league with 2.2 steals
Hartford's leading returning scorer after averaging an even 10.0 points per game
Sabre Proctor, Jr., Stony Brook
Selected to All-Conference Third Team in 2012-13
Ranked seventh in the conference in scoring (10.9 ppg) and third in free throw percentage (78.4)
Led Stony Brook to a 10-win turnaround and the No. 4 seed in the America East Championship.
Kelsey Hogan, Sr., New Hampshire
Lone senior on Preseason All-Conference Team
Leading returning scorer for the Wildcats after averaging 9.8 points per game in 2012-13
Ranked 7th in the conference, averaging 32. assists per game.
Connected on 33.3-percent of 3-point attempts, ranking 10th in the conference.
Led UNH to first America East semifinal appearance since 2005.
