Lehman, Tarbell Lead UNH to #AEFH Regular-Season Crown, Garner Weekly Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – New Hampshire secured the No. 1 seed for the America East Field Hockey Championship over the weekend and two players who led the way are conference's weekly award winners:

Player of the Week
Lynne Lehman, So., New Hampshire
Landisburg, Pa.

  • Led UNH to two wins over the weekend by racking up three goals and an
  • Had a goal and an assist in her team's win over UMass Lowell Friday and then scored twice in a 7-0 victory over Vermont Sunday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Carlie Tarbell, Sr., New Hampshire
Wakefield, Mass.

  • Ran her shutout string to four games (284:54) by helping UNH blank UMass Lowell and over the weekend.
  • Made four saves, all in the second half, of Friday's win over UMass Lowell and stopped one shot in Sunday's victory over Vermont.
  • Tarbell's honor is her fourth of the year.

Rookie of the Week
Paula Heuser, Fr., Albany
Monchengladbach, Germany

  • Had two goals and as many assists in two games last week.
  • Scored and had an assist in Albany's 6-1 win over Fairfield Saturday and did the same thing in a 5-3 loss to No. 9 Princeton Sunday.

Around the League

  • The Wildcats locked up at least a share of the regular-season crown with two wins over the weekend and will be the No. 1 seed for the upcoming league tournament.
  • UNH will host will host Albany, Fairfield and Maine all of which secured the other tournament bids over the weekend following Vermont's loss.
  • The America East Championship takes place Nov. 7-9 in Durham.
  • The regular-season crown is UNH's fourth straight, the third time in league history that has been achieved.
  • UNH has won 10 of its last 12 games.
  • Albany beat Fairfield, 6-1, Saturday, its seventh-straight win over the Stags.
