UNH Takes Pair of #AEVB Weekly Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – New Hampshire stands alone in first place with four matches remaining in the America East volleyball regular season with an 8-2 conference record after going 2-0 last week. UMBC also went 2-0 and moved into a tie for second with Stony Brook, while Albany is fourth at 6-4. Here is a look at the week 10 award winners:

Player of the Week
Tori Forrest, So., New Hampshire
Powder Springs, Ga.

  • Averaged a conference-best 4.67 kills per set while ranking ninth in hitting percentage at .294 in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats.
  • Also ranked third in the conference with 4.33 digs per set.
  • Notched 16 kills and eight digs on a .367 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over Hartford.
  • Tallied 12 kills and 18 digs for a double-double in a straight-set win over Providence.

Rookie of the Week
Amanda Dolan, Fr., Albany
Manhattan, Ill.

  • Led the conference with 1.88 blocks per set in a 1-1 week for Albany.
  • Averaged 2.62 kills and ranked third in the conference with a .408 hitting percentage.
  • Had six kills and four blocks with a .278 hitting percentage in a win over Stony Brook.
  • Totaled 15 kills without committing a single error for a .484 hitting percentage while also notching 11 blocks in a five-set loss at UMBC.

Setter of the Week
Taylor Dunklau, Jr., New Hampshire
Mukwonago, Wis.

  • Led the conference in assists per set (13.17) while quarterbacking the New Hampshire offense to a league-best .276 hitting percentage. Also averaged 2.33 digs per set.
  • Had 40 assists and seven digs in a win at Hartford.
  • Totaled 39 assists and seven digs in a win over Providence.

Around the League

  • New Hampshire can clinch a spot in the America East Championship with a win or losses by Providence, Hartford and Binghamton.
  • UMBC swept Albany in the season series for the first time in program history.
