Black Bears, Retrievers Honored in Week#4 SW&D

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Two new faces are featured in this week’s America East Swimming and Diving awards as four of the five America East Women’s Swimming programs took to the road for meets. Here’s a look at this week’s award winners:


Swimmer of the Week
Talor Tadena, Sr., UMBC
Orangevale, Calif.

  • Won three individual events and helped the Retrievers claim the 400 free relay at Old Dominion.
  • Won the 100-breaststroke, clocking in at 1:05.01.
  • Touched the wall at 57.12 to take the top-spot in the 100-fly.
  • Posted the best 100-free time among all nominated America East swimmers, with a time of 51.94.
  • Anchored her quartet to a 400-free relay victory.
  • Currently holds the top-times in the 100-breast and 100-free among America East Swimmers, while holding down the No. 2 spot in the 100-fly with this week’s results.
  • Has collected seven individual titles in just three meets this season.

Diver of the Week
Kara Capossela, Sr., Maine
Greenwich, Conn.

  • Collected three first-place scores against Boston College and Providence.
  • Notched victories over BC with a three-meter score of 253.57 and one-meter tally of 224.02.
  • Posted a 258.37 one-meter diving result over Providence.

Around the League

  • Maine’s Naja Harvey collected four individual wins, including two in the 100-yard breast and two in the 200-yard breast events, against Boston College and Providence.
  • Binghamton’s Kaitlin Kelly broke a Bearcat record and earned an individual win in the 100-free (53.68) and collected three second-place finishes against Massachusetts.
  • Vermont’s Christa Weaver tallied individual wins in the 100-free (51.99), 200-free (1:37.78) and 200-medley (1:49.33).
  • New Hampshire’s Jenni Roberts won three individual events and was part of a record-setting quartet in the 400-yard medley relay.
  • UNH Diver Nicole Zahka won the three-meter with a score of 232.70 and placed fourth in the one-meter.
