Albany Wins Tuesday; Vermont In Action Wednesday
Peter Hooley went over the 20-point mark for the third-straight game to help Albany snap its three-game losing skid Tuesday as the Great Danes won at Rider, 70-59. Hooley scored a career-high 24 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Albany (3-3) shot 53 percent from the field as a team and outrebounded the Broncs, 35-19.
Also Tuesday, UMBC (2-5) shot just 29 percent en route to a 75-60 loss at Towson. Chase Plummer paced the Retievers with 17 points off the bench.
Binghamton (1-5) lost at Saint Peter's 70-57 despite a double-double from Jordan Reed (20 points, 10 rebounds) and career-high 17 points from freshman Yosef Yacob off the bench.
UMass Lowell (0-6) was felled by turnovers in a 79-49 loss at Cincinnati as the Bearcats turned 28 River Hawk miscues into 31 points. Chad Holley paced UML with 10 points.
Vermont (1-5) is the lone team in action Wednesday. The Catamounts begin play at the Golden State Challenge in San Fransisco by battling Illinois State at 11:15 p.m. UVM nearly ended Duke's 106-game home court win streak against non-conference opponent Sunday, taking the Blue Devils to the final possession before falling 91-90.
