Stony Brook, Binghamton Win Wednesday

Binghamton and Stony Brook each picked up wins in men's basketball action Wednesday as the Bearcats snapped a four-game losing skid and the Seawolves won for the third time in four games.

The Bearcats (2-5) shot 53 percent from the field, including 68 percent in the second half, en route to a 74-70 win at Mount St. Mary's. Marlon Beck led four Bearcats in twin figures with 19 points.

Stony Brook (6-3) rebounded from a loss Sunday to post a 77-62 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. The Seawolves led throughout but the Knights closed the gap to three with just over three minutes left before Stony Brook ended the game on a 15-3 run. Carson Puriefoy led a balanced attack with 15 points off the bench.

Also Wednesday, Albany (4-4) fell at Holy Cross, 62-57, despite 19 points from Peter Hooley. UMBC (3-6) made a late charge at Duquesne and got a season-high 27 points from Chase Plummer but fell, 94-88. Maine (1-6) got outrebounded 46-32 at NJIT and fell, 81-72 despite 18 points and 11 from Xavier Pollard. Hartford (2-6) got a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds from Mark Nwakamma but lost at La Salle, 75-62. New Hampshire (2-5) shot just 34 percent en route to a 65-56 loss at Central Connecticut State. Jacoby Armstrong registered his first career double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds).
