Binghamton's Reed & Beck, Hartford's Nwakamma Snag Weekly Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Binghamton and Hartford each picked up wins last week led by standout performances from preseason all-conference selections Jordan Reed and Mark Nwakamma, respectively. That duo shared America East basketball Player of the Week honors for week 5: 


Co-Player of the Week
Jordan Reed, So., Guard, Binghamton

  • Averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in a pair of games last week.
  • Led Binghamton to a win over Mount St. Mary's Wednesday by contributing 17 points and eight rebounds.
  • Had a season-high 26 points and six boards against one of the nation's best teams, #4/5 Syracuse, Saturday.

Co-Player of the Week
Mark Nwakamma, Jr., Forward, Hartford

  • Averaged 21.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a pair of games last week.
  • Led Binghamton to a win over Holy Cross Saturday by scoring 19 points and grabbing six rebounds.
  • Also recorded his third double-double of the season in a loss at La Salle Wednesday, scoring 23 points and pulling down 10 boards.
Rookie of the Week
Marlon Beck, Fr., Guard, Binghamton
  • Averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in two games for the Bearcats last week.
  • Scored a team-high 19 points in a win over Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday.
Around the League
  • Stony Brook, Hartford, UMBC and Binghamton all picked up wins last week.
  • The 6-4 Seawolves are receiving votes in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.
  • The Catamounts' Brian Voelkel is 24 rebounds shy of becoming just the ninth player in league history to reach the 1,000-mark.
  • Stony Brook's Anthony Jackson is one of just four players in the country to have made all his free throw attempts (min. 2.5 attempts per game). He's a perfect 26-for-26 on the season.
  • Conference play begins on Sunday with New Hampshire hosting Stony Brook on Dec. 15.
