Stony Brook Wins 6th Straight League Opener
Stony Brook is off to a 1-0 in America East play after the Seawolves defeated New Hampshire in both teams' league openers on Sunday. Additionally on Sunday, Hartford won for the second time in three games.
The Seawolves (7-4) outrebounded New Hampshire, 41-23, and outscored them, 34-21, after halftime en route to a 67-4 win. The win was the Seawolves sixth-straight in a league opener. Carson Puriefoy paced Stony Brook, which got 33 points from its bench, with 15 points, while Jordan Bronner and Frank Okeke each poured in a game-high 14 points.
Hartford (4-8) posted its second win in its last three games as it shot 56 percent in a 84-72 win at Sacred Heart. Mark Nwakamma led four Hawks in twin figures with 21 points and Evan Cooper had 17.
Vermont (3-7) allowed Quinnipiac to shoot 50 percent from the floor in an 80-67 loss. Sandro Carissimo paced four Catamounts in double figures with 13 points while Brian Voelkel had a double-double of 12 points and 12 boards.
