Craig, Anderson Take Home WBB Weekly Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Albany junior Megan Craig registered the third-highest scoring game in Albany DI history on her way to being named America East Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the first time this season, the conference office announced Monday. New Hampshire freshman Kristen Anderson earned Rookie of the Week honors after recording one of the best single-game performances by an America East freshman in years. Here are the week nine award winners:

Player of the Week
Megan Craig, Jr., Albany
Whangarei, New Zealand

  • Averaged 22.0 points (second in the conference) and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 58.6 percent in a 1-1 week for Albany.
  • Posted a career-high 33 points, the third-highest single game total in Albany Division I history, and grabbed eight rebounds while leading Albany to a road win at Northeastern.
  • Connected on 13-of-18 from the field and 7-of-11 from the free throw line against the Huskies.
  • Started the week with 11 points and five boards in a loss at Hofstra.

Rookie of the Week
Kristen Anderson, Fr., New Hampshire
Green, Maine

  • Scored a career-high 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting including 6-of-9 from 3-point range in a, 77-74, overtime win at Brown.
  • Also grabbed eight rebounds in the contest.
  • She is the first America East freshman since Binghamton’s Andrea Holmes in 2009 to score 30 points in a game and the first New Hampshire freshman to accomplish the feat since Kris Kenney scored 33 on Feb. 6, 1986 against Boston U.
  • Netted nine of her 30 points in the overtime period including the go-ahead bucket with less than 30 seconds to go.

  • Stony Brook finished with its best non-conference winning percentage and highest win total at 9-4.
  • UMBC improved to 8-4 in conference home-openers with a, 47-32, win over Binghamton.
  • New Hampshire freshman Kristen Anderson became the first America East freshman since Binghamton’s Andrea Holmes in 2009.
  • Albany’s Megan Craig scored 33 points at Northeastern, the third-highest total in Albany Division I history.
  • New Hampshire guard Kelsey Hogan reached the 300-assist mark to rank 11th in program history.
  • Albany’s Shereesha Richards has six Player of the Week awards, tying her with multiple players for the most in a single season.
  • Albany’s Shereesha Richards made 15 field goals vs. Dartmouth, the most for an America East player since New Hampshire’s Morgan Frame made 15 at wagner on 12/21/2011.
  • Vermont’s 95 points vs. UMass Lowell are the most for any America East Conference team since the Catamounts posted 92 vs. Albany on Feb. 10, 2010.
  • Maine started 3-0 for the first time since 1989.
  • Stony Brook eclipsed the 80-point mark for the first time since 2007 with an 83-79 win at Bradley, who was receiving votes in the mid-major poll.
  • Stony Brook’s Brittany Snow became the first Seawolf to score 30+ points in a game since 2007 with 30 points and nine rebounds vs. Bradley.
