Richards Scores 41 to Lead Albany Over Vermont

Albany (11-3, 1-0) sophomore Shereesha Richards scored an Albany program record 41 points to lead the Great Danes to a, 94-49, win over Vermont in America East women's basketball conference action on Thursday night.

Richards finished 17-of-24 from the floor and grabbed 11 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season. The 41 points were the most for an America East player since Boston U.'s Katie Meinhardt had 43 in March of 2005.

Albany's 94 points were the most under Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, shooting 60.3 percent from the floor while holding Vermont to 28 percent.

After Vermont scored the first basket of the game, Albany went on a 10-0 run and never trailed again. The Great Danes led by 11 at the half but then opened the second frame on a 17-6 run to put the game away.

Kayla Burchill led Vermont with 15 points while Kristina White scored nine off the bench. Sarah Royals had 18 points, eight assists and five rebounds for Albany,
