UMass Lowell, UNH, Stony Brook, UVM Win Midweek Games
Three of four home teams won America East midweek games as UMass Lowell, New Hampshire and Stony Brook held serve at home Wednesday and Vermont won on the road Thursday.
On Thursday, the Catamounts (9-8, 3-0 AE) won its fifth-straight game, beating Maine (3-13, 1-3 AE), 83-46. UVM shot a season-best 57.9 percent from the field and had nine players score at least six points, led by Ethan O'Day's 12 off the bench.
On Wednesday, the River Hawks (4-11, 3-1 AE) beat Albany (8-9, 2-2 AE), 70-66 in overtime, their third-straight win. UMass Lowell, which improved to 3-1 in league play, got a layup from Antonio Bivins with 0.3 seconds left to force overtime. Akeem Williams paced UML with 20 points.
The Seawolves (11-6, 3-0 AE) won their 19th straight league game at home, beating Binghamton (4-13, 1-3 AE), 67-47. Dave Coley had his second-straight 20-point effort to lead Stony Brook, which remained a perfect 3-0 in America East play.
The Wildcats (2-13, 1-2 AE) held UMBC (5-12, 1-3 AE) to a season-low 42 points in a 56-42 win. The victory snapped UNH's 13-game losing skid and was its first league win of the year. Frank Okeke tallied his first career double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) in the win.
