Hartford's Cole, UNH's Pelcher, Stony Brook's Walker Net Weekly Recognition

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Historic performances by Hartford's Wes Cole and New Hampshire's Chris Pelcher helped the duo earned America East's Co-Player of the Weekly honors Monday, while Stony Brook's Ahmad Walker picked up his second-straight Rookie of the Week honor:

Co-Player of the Week
Wes Cole, Jr., Guard, Hartford

  • Averaged 20.7 points and made 20 three-pointers in leading Hartford to two wins in three games last week.
  • Hit a school-record 10 treys and scored 30 points in a win over UMass Lowell on Jan. 20.
  • The 10 trifectas are tied for the third-most in league history and the most by an America East player in over 12 years (T.J. Sorrentine, 12 vs. Northeastern, Jan. 17, 2002).
  • Scored 24 of the Hawks' 56 points and canned eight threes, which is tied for eighth-most in a game in league history, in a win over Binghamton Thursday.
  • Shot 44 percent from three-point land for the week.

Co-Player of the Week
Chris Pelcher, Sr., Center, New Hampshire

  • Returned from injury and was the difference make for UNH in two wins last week.
  • Averaged 12.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 6.0 blocks in victories over Albany and UMass Lowell.
  • Had 11 points, seven boards and five rejections in the win over the Great Danes Thursday.
  • Recorded his fifth double-double of the season (13 points, 14 rebounds) and also had a career-high seven blocks vs. the River Hawks Sunday.
  • The seven blocks were the most by an America East player since 2008 (Marqus Blakely, 8 vs. Stony Brook, Jan. 21, 2008).
Rookie of the Week
Ahmad Walker, R-Fr., Guard, Stony Brook
  • Averaged 12.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in three Stony Brook wins last week.
  • Shot 51.6 percent from the field for the week.
  • Had the best game of his career in the Seawolves' win over Maine Sunday, scoring a team and career-high 22 points to go with 11 rebounds and three assists.
  • The award is his second of the season.
Around the League
  • Stony Brook is the lone unbeaten in America East play and is 7-0 for the first time in program history.
  • The Seawolves have won six in a row overall, 13 straight league games dating back to last season and 22 consecutive at home dating back to the 2010-11 season.
  • The 22-straight league wins are home is the third-longest active streak in the nation.
  • Vermont sits in second place in the league standings at 6-1 and has won eight of its last nine games.
  • SBU and Vermont are receiving votes in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.
  • Hartford has won five of its last seven games.
  • The Hawks' Wes Cole set a school record with 10 three-pointers Jan. 20 vs. UMass Lowell, which tied for the third-most in league history and the most by an America East player in over 12 years (T.J. Sorrentine, 12 vs. Northeastern, Jan. 17, 2002).
  • UNH has won back-to-back games and held UMass Lowell to 12.2 percent Sunday, the lowest mark in the NCAA since 1986.
  • Chris Pelcher had seven blocks vs. the River Hawks Sunday, the most by an America East player since 2008 (Marqus Blakely, 8 vs. Stony Brook, Jan. 21, 2008).
  • Vermont's Brian Voelkel sits in fifth place on the league’s all-time rebound list (1,080) and is 35 shy of surpassing Tommy Brenton and Mark Halsel for third on the all-time chart.
  • Voelkel is 10 assists shy of becoming Vermont's all-time leader.
  • Stony Brook's Jameel Warney leads the nation shooting 66.0 percent from the field.
  • Four different Binghamton players have earned Rookie of the Week honors this season, the first time in America East history four players from one team have earned the honor.
  • America East is youth driven as six of the top 15 scorers are freshmen or sophomores.
