SOMERS, Wis. – Senior Jenni Roberts (Springvale, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire women's swimming & diving team has been named the Philip Hunsaker Women's Division I Swimmer of the Week, announced Wednesday evening.

It marks the first time that New Hampshire has garnered a national swimmer of the week award in program history.
Roberts was part of three pool-record performances with two first-place finishes and a pair of runner-up finishes. In spite of that, the Wildcats were narrowly defeated 156-5-143.5 by the Yale University Bulldogs on Friday, Jan. 24.

"It is great that UNH women's swimming & diving is garnering more and more recognition nationally and for Jenni to be selected is well deserved," said head coach Josh Willman."This is a huge honor for both Jenni and our team. The team means everything to Jenni and what she brings to our team as a leader, motivator and student-athlete is invaluable. We are very proud of her."

In the opening event of the dual meet, the senior was the first leg of the record setting quartet in the 400-yard medley relay. Collectively, the group set a new Swasey Pool record of 3 minutes, 50.30 seconds. Roberts also bested her own pool record in the 200-yard IM to clock in at 2:03.07, leading a 1-2-3 sweep for the Wildcats.

The senior again set a pool record with an America East-best time of 1:50.75 in the 200-yard freestyle. Despite that, Roberts was edged out by three hundredths of a second. She registered a runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly to match the conference-best time with a time of 56.05.

Roberts holds the fastest America East times in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke (56.25) In addition, she is a member of the 400-yard medley relay team with a mark of 3:49.81 to lead the conference.

New Hampshire, which ranks 12th in the Mid-Major Poll, competes in its last dual meet prior to the America East Championships. The Wildcats visit the University of Maine Black Bears on Friday, Jan. 31 (5 p.m.). For the latest news on the UNH women's swimming & diving team, please visit
