Albany's Craig, Stony Brook's Bayne-Walker Take Home Weekly Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Albany junior Megan Craig helped the Great Danes continue a historical winning streak to net America East women’s basketball Player of the Week accolades, while Stony Brook freshman Kori Bayne-Walker came up big in a pair of wins for the Seawolves to be named Rookie of the Week. Here are the week 14 awards:

Player of the Week
Megan Craig, Jr., Albany
Whangarei, New Zealand

  • Recorded a pair of double-doubles in a 2-0 week for Albany.
  • Ranked third in the conference in scoring at 17.0 points per game and third in rebounding at 11.0 rebounds per game while shooting 64.0 percent for the week.
  • Scored 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds in a road win at UMass Lowell.
  • Also had 17 points and 11 rebounds on 8-of-13 shooting in a win over Hartford.

Rookie of the Week
Kori Bayne-Walker, Fr., Stony Brook
Rochester, N.Y.

  • Averaged 14.0 points per game while leading the conference in field goal percentage (85.7) and hitting 16-of-19 free throw attempts in a 2-0 week for the Seawolves.
  • Scored a team-high 18 points, including 16 in the second half to spark a come-from-behind win against Binghamton. Hit 10-of-11 free throw attempts while also adding two assists and two steals.
  • Scored 9 of her 10 points in the second half against New Hampshire to lift the Seawolves to an important win over the second-place Wildcats. Also added three assists and three rebounds.

  • Albany has won 34-straight conference regular-season games, tied for the longest current conference winning streak in the nation with Hampton (MEAC).
  • The longest conference winning streak in America East history was 37-straight games set by Maine from 1995-97.
  • Maine has hit a program-record 184 3-pointers this season.
  • Stony Brook’s 17 wins are the most for the program since winning 18 in 2006-07. The program DI record is 20 set in 2005-06.
  • Maine’s 7 America East wins are the most for the program since going 7-9 in 2006-07.
  • Albany’s Shereesha Richards 516 points this season are the most for a Great Dane in program history.
  • Vermont’s Niki Taylor became the 23rd player in program history with 500 points and 500 rebounds in her career.
  • UMass Lowell boasts three of the top-six scorers in the league in Shannon Samuels, Lindsey Doucette and Jasmine McRoy.
  • UMBC sophomore Bridget O’Donnell had seven blocks at Vermont, the most for an America East player since UMBC’s Tope Obajolu had 7 at Vermont on Jan. 22, 2012.
  • Albany’s Shereesha Richards scored a program record 41 points at Vermont, the most for any America East player since Boston U.’s Katie Meinhardt had 43 in March of 2005.
  • Richards’ nine Player of the Week honors are a single-season league record.
  • 5 different players have had 30-point performances, the most since 7 different players accomplished the feat in 2008-09.
