Bepko, Proctor Named Co-Players of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –Two players who led their teams to unbeaten weeks earned America East weekly awards as Hartford junior Amber Bepko and Stony Brook senior Sabre Proctor shared Player of the Week honors. UMBC freshman Sara Tarbert was named Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this year. Here are the week 16 awards:

 Co-Player of the Week
Amber Bepko, Jr., Hartford
Guilford, Conn.

  • Averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 2-0 week for Hartford.
  • Led the Hawks in scoring in both games last week.
  • Scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds in an 80-64 win over UMass Lowell.
  • Hit a school-record seven 3-pointers on 11 attempts, helping Hartford break a program record with 16 3-pointers against UMBC.
  • Finished with a career-high and game-high 25 points against UMBC while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out four assists.
  • Shot 55.2 percent from the floor last week, which was tops among America East guards.

Co-Player of the Week
Sabre Proctor, Sr., Stony Brook
Harrisburg, Pa.

  • Back-to-back 20-point efforts led the Seawolves to a pair of America East wins, averaging a league-best 23.0 points per game last week.
  • Led Stony Brook with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting to go with four rebounds and three steals.
  • Scored a career-high 26 points in a win over Maine.
  • Has reached 20 or more points 10 times this season and double figures 24 times.

Rookie of the Week
Sara Tarbert, Fr., UMBC
Delta, Pa.

  • Led the Retrievers in scoring last week, averaging 16.5 points to go with 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game.
  • Started the week with 10 points and six rebounds in a loss to Stony Brook.
  • Recorded her sixth 20-point effort of the season, scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against Hartford.
  • Has five double-doubles and has reached double figures in 11-straight games.
  • Earns her fifth Rookie of the Week honor.

Around the League

  • Hartford hit a school record 16 three-pointers against UMBC, tied for the second-most in America East history.
  • Hartford’s Amber Bepko hit a school record seven 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 25 points vs. UMBC.
  • New Hampshire’s 18 overall wins and 12 conference wins are the most for the team since finishing 19-8 and 13-5 in 1998-99.
  • Vermont has clinched the No. 6 seed in the America East Championship.
  • Vermont’s Kylie Butler scored 27 points at UMass Lowell, the most for a UVM freshman since Christie Lauzon had 28 on 3/3/1996 vs. Boston U.
  • Maine’s eight America East wins are the most for the program since going 16-2 in 2004-05.
  • Albany has won 37-straight conference regular-season games, tied for the longest winning streak in conference history with Maine (1995-97).
  • Stony Brook’s 20 wins are tied for the most in program Division I history, a mark that was set in  2005-06.
  • Albany’s Shereesha Richards scored a program record 41 points at Vermont, the most for any America East player since Boston U.’s Katie Meinhardt had 43 in March of 2005.
  • Richards’ nine Player of the Week honors are a single-season league record.
  • 6 different players have had 30-point performances, the most since 7 different players accomplished the feat in 2008-09.
