CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Impressive offensive numbers continued for several America East women’s lacrosse team through the third week of the season. Albany sophomore Rachel Bowles earned her second-straight Co-Offensive Player of the Week award, sharing once again with a Vermont Catamount in junior Jessica Roach as both teams went 2-0. UMBC goalkeeper Anna Barnett took home Defensive Player of the Week honors, and Albany freshman Dakotah Savitcheff earned Rookie of the Week. Here are the week three award winners:

Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Rachel Bowles, So., A, Albany
Cicero, N.Y.

  • Totaled eight goals and four assists in a 2-0 week for the Great Danes.
  • Scored three goals and had three assists to go with a ground balls as Albany defeated Manhattan.
  • Ended the week with five goals and one assist in a win against Quinnipiac.
  • Leads Albany with 13 goals and 21 points.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Jessica Roach, Jr., A, Vermont
Scituate, Mass.

  • Totaled eight goals in four assists in a 2-0 week for the Catamounts.
  • Had five goals and three assists to go with two ground balls and two caused turnovers in a win over Siena.
  • Followed that with three goals and one assist in a win against LIU Broolyn.
  • Was credited with game-winning goals in both contests.

Defensive Player of the Week
Anna Barnett, So., GK, UMBC
Midland, Texas

  • Barnett tied a career-high with nine saves in a 7-6 win over La Salle.
  • The nine stops came on 15 shots, giving her a .600 save percentage.
  • Barnett made a save on a free position shot in the final 1:30 of the contest to preserve UMBC’s one goal lead.
  • Added three ground balls.

Rookie of the Week
Dakotah Savitcheff, Fr., A, Albany
Canadaigua, N.Y.

  • Posted seven goals for the week in a 2-0 week for the Great Danes.
  • Tallied six goals against Manhattan, the fifth-most in a single game in Albany Division I history and the second-most for a freshman.
  • Added one more goal against Quinnipiac.

Around the League

  • Kristin Yevoli has led the Seawolves in draw controls in 4 of 5 games and recorded a game-high three draws vs. No. 7/5 Florida
  • After dropping its first two games of the season, UMBC has earned back-to-back victories. Junior Abby Wilson has scored in each of the first four games of the season.
  • Vermont has now started 4-0 in two of the past three seasons (2012)
  • The Catamounts have now outscored opponents 71-34 this season
