Sophomore Corinna Darelius recently competed in the NCAA Zones after her performance on the boards at the America East Championships. The 2014 Most Outstanding Diver swept the diving events at the conference championship and earning finals scores of 235.3 (1-meter) and 261.7 (3-meter) on the platform. Her performance qualified her for the NCAA Zone “A” Diving Championships.
Darelius, who made her second consecutive trip to the Zones, represented the Retrievers on the one-meter board scoring a 204.25 to finish 34th out of 51 divers on day one. Day two saw the three-time league Diver of the Week collect 248.3 points on the 3-meter stage for 17th-place. Her finish was good enough to advance her to the meet finals later that day, in which she scored 220.0 points to grab 18th place overall to top-off her impressive season.
Her advancement was the first time in UMBC program history that a female diver moved onto the finals round.
