SAAC Helps Out at Ronald McDonald House
The America East Student-Athlete Advisory Committee spent time volunteering at the Albany Ronald McDonald House during the 2014 Men's and Women's Basketball Championship held March 7-10 at University at Albany's SEFCU Arena.
"At the Ronald McDonald house we all did something around the house to benefit the children and families staying at the house," said Tim Johnson, a senior football player at New Hampshire.
"Some of us vacuumed the house, cleaned a bedroom that had just opened up, cleaned all the door handles, shoveled the snow around the house, washed the windows and even baked some cookies for the house. It was a great chance to help the kids and families that lived at the house."
Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region, Inc. promotes the health, development and well being of children and their families. They accomplish this through the Ronald McDonald House, a home away from home for families of seriously ill children, and by creating and supporting programs that directly improve the lives of children and their families.
The mission of the America East Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by protecting student-athlete welfare, fostering a positive student-athlete image, and providing a forum for student-athletes, conference administrators and institutional representatives to discuss rules governing America East and the NCAA. The members engage in various community service activities as a conference, and within their separate school communities.
