After weather washed out most of last weekend, the America East baseball conference season looks ahead to a full weekend of games beginning on Saturday. Beyond the three conference series, Stony Brook will play some non-conference games in the Dodd Stadium college Baseball Classic. Here's a look ahead to the weekend:

UMBC (6-15, 3-3 AE) at Binghamton (6-13, 1-4 AE)

Entering the weekend, UMBC (6-15, 3-3 AE) sits fourth in the America East standings, having won its last conference series against Maine. (March 22-23).  Freshman Hunter Dolshun has paced the UMBC attack as of late and is riding a ten-game hit streak.  The rookie infielder/catcher, who is hitting .328, went 1-for-3 on Wednesday against UMES, knocking in a run with an RBI single in the fourth.

Binghamton (6-13, 1-4 AE) lost both games of its conference-opening series at UMass Lowell and then managed to win one of three at Hartford. Daniel Nevares went 3-for-4 in the mid-week win at NJIT and leads Binghamton with a .304 batting average in 2014. Binghamton leads the all-time series, 37-9, with a 37-6 advantage in America East play.

UAlbany owns a 2-4 mark in America East play, winning a road series at UMBC, 2-1, on March 15-16 before getting swept by Stony Brook, 3-0, March 22-23. In conference play, Evan Harasta (.350, 5 RBI), Craig Lepre (.350, 6 RBI), and Matt Hinchy (.333, 4 RBI) are all batting above the .300 mark, while the team has a .253 average.

After a hot start to Division I play, UMass Lowell is looking to snap a six-game losing skid heading into the weekend. The River Hawks own a 2-0 record in America East play, sweeping a March 15th doubleheader versus the Binghamton Bearcats. Both games ended with a score of 4-2, before the series finale was rained out. The River Hawks had last weekend’s conference series versus Maine cancelled due to inclement weather.

Game one of the series features a matchup between the hottest pitcher in the conference in Hartford's Sean Newcomb and last year's America East Pitcher of the Year in Maine's Tommy Lawrence.

The Hawks enter the series 13-5 in their last 18 games. The Hawks split midweek games against Holy Cross (win) and Bryant (loss) after splitting a doubleheader in conference play last weekend with Stony Brook.

Maine won its home-opener over Maine-Farmington on Thursday and hold an 86-28 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools.

Stony Brook comes together with two other Northeast Region powers for a weekend tournament in the first-ever Dodd Stadium College Baseball Classic, featuring the 2012 College World Series participant Seawolves, 2013 NEC champion Bryant and 2013 BIG EAST champion Connecticut. The Seawolves will play Bryant first and Connecticut second on Saturday and then finish with a single game against Bryant on Sunday. For three teams who play in relative proxmity to reach other, Stony Brook, Bryant and UConn don't have a storied history against each other. The #Seawolves have faced the Bulldogs and Huskies only once in their history. They lost to Bryant in 2013 and lost to UConn in 2001. Bryant and UConn have played five times with the Huskies leading the series 4-1.
