CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Stony Brook moved into sole possession of first place with a win over Albany on Saturday as America East women's lacrosse heads into the final two weeks of the regular-season. Freshman Courtney Murphy was named Rookie of the Week for her effort in the Seawolves' win that puts them in the driver's seat to host the 2014 championship May 2 and 4. New Hampshire's Nicole Grote was named Offensive Player of the Week and Laura Puccia earned Defensive Player of the Week as the Wildcats earned an important win over Binghamton. Here are the week nine award winners:

Offensive Player of the Week
Nicole Grote, So., A, New Hampshire
Ellicott City, Md.

  • Tied a career-high with four goals and seven points, leading New Hampshire to an 18-5 win over Binghamton.
  • Led the conference in goals per game (4.0) and points per game (7.0) last week.
  • Registered three goals, two assists, one ground ball and two draw controls during a decisive 9-0 run to start the game.
  • Her four goals came on six shots for a .667 shooting percentage.

Defensive Player of the Week
Laura Puccia, Jr., M, New Hampshire
Fairport, N.Y.

  • Led a defensive effort that allowed just five goals in an 18-5 win over Binghamton.
  • Recorded game-highs and career-highs in ground balls with four, caused turnovers with three and draw controls with eight.
  • Also contributed on the offensive end with three goals and one assist.

Rookie of the Week
Courtney Murphy, Fr., A, Stony Brook
Shirley, N.Y.

  • Scored a game-high three goals to lift Stony Brook over Albany in a battle for first on Saturday.
  • Finished with a .500 shooting percentage and was credited with the game-winning goal.
  • Also added one goal in an 11-9 win over Yale.
  • Murphy is five goals shy of Katilin Leggio’s freshman record of 46 set in 2006.

  • Stony Brook took sole possession of first place with an 8-4 win over Albany on Saturday.
  • Vermont’s Sydney Mas became the all-time points leader in Catamount history, recording her 244th career point against UMBC Saturday.
  • UNH recorded season highs in goals (18) and draw controls (17) in a win over Binghamton.
  • Stony Brook head coach Joe Spallina became the all-time winningest coach in program history with her 43rd career win against Albany. He is 43-10 all-time.
  • The Seawolves’ win over Albany was the second for the team over a ranked opponent.
  • New Hampshire’s Laura Puccia scored her 100th career goal while Kayleigh Hinkle registered her 100th career point in a win over Binghamton.
  • The Seawolves have been ranked nationally in both major polls for 23-straight weeks.
