Albany's Miles Thompson, Binghamton's Deluca Earn #AEMLAX Weekly Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Two players from the two unbeaten teams in the America East men's lacrosse standings earned the conference's weekly honors Monday. Albany's Miles Thompson and Binghamton's Tyler Deluca garnered Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, ahead of next week's showdown for the America East regular-season title. Player of the Week
Miles Thompson, Sr., Attacker, Albany

  • Tallied a season-high 10 points to lead Albany to an 18-14 win over UMBC Saturday.
  • Scored six goals and dished out four assists.
  • Became Albany's all-time points leader and has 251 for his career.
  • The award is Thompson's fourth of the season and sixth of his career.

Rookie of the Week
Tyler Deluca, Fr., Midfielder, Binghamton

  • Racked up seven points in leading Binghamton to two wins last week.
  • Scored a career-high three times in the Bearcats' 9-5 win over Canisius Tuesday.
  • Had two goals and two assists in a 14-11 win over Stony Brook Saturday.
  • Better than doubled his season point total in just two games as he came into the week with six points on four goals and two assists.

  • Albany, Binghamton and Hartford earned wins Saturday: Recap
  • Binghamton (6-6, 4-0 AE) scored a season-high 14 goals to beat Stony Brook (5-9, 1-3 AE), 14-11, Saturday.
  • The win moved the Bearcats to 4-0 in America East play for the first time since 2004.
  • Blaze Riorden tied a career high with 20 saves as Albany (6-6, 4-0 AE) downed UMBC (6-6, 2-2 AE), 18-14, to stay unbeaten in league play.
  • Miles Thompson became Albany's all-time points leader with 251 while his brother, Lyle, became the Great Danes' all-time assists leader with 134.
  • Despite the loss, UMBC clinched a bid to the America East Championship for the 11th-straight year and will be the No. 3 seed.
  • Trailing 3-2 in the second quarter, Hartford (6-8, 1-3 AE) scored eight of the game's next nine goals and held off a Vermont (5-7, 0-4 AE) to pick up its first league win of the season.
  • The win keeps Hartford's chances of securing an America East Championship bid alive and eliminates Vermont from consideration.
  • Albany leads the nation scoring 15.3 goals per game.
  • Lyle and Miles Thompson rank first and second nationally in points per game, averaging 6.7 and 6.4 respectively.
  • Lyle leads the country in assists while Miles is tops in goals.

  • Conference play wraps up next weekend with Albany hosting Binghamton, Stony Brook entertaining Hartford and UMBC visiting Vermont.

  • The Stony Brook-Hartford winner will earn the last spot in tournament field.
