CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A trio of players from the three teams that won America East men's lacrosse games over the weekend are the conference's final weekly award winners of the 2014 season. Albany's Lyle Thompson and UMBC's Phil Poe shared Co-Player of the Week honors while Stony Brook's Kyle Rowe earned Rookie of the Week accolades. All three players will compete in the upcoming America East Championship, which takes place May 1-3 at Stony Brook University.

Co-Player of the Week
Lyle Thompson, Jr., Attacker, Albany

  • Tallied 18 points on 12 goals and six assists in leading Albany to a pair of wins last week.
  • Scored six goals and dished out a season-two assists in a 19-11 win over Siena Tuesday.
  • Racked up a season-high 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists) in a 21-7 win over Binghamton Saturday, which brought the Great Danes their second-straight America East regular-season title.
  • The award is Thompson's third of the season and sixth of his career.

Co-Player of the Week
Phil Poe, Sr., Midfielder, UMBC

  • Set a pair of program records in UMBC's 17-14 win over Vermont Saturday.
  • Won 28 faceoffs (out of 34), the most ever by a Retriever.
  • Set a UMBC record and matched the single-game high in the nation this season by picking up 20 ground balls.
  • Also added an assist.
  • The award is the second of his career.

Rookie of the Week
Kyle Rowe, Fr., Midfielder, Stony Brook

  • Won 61 percent of his draws in leading Stony Brook to a key win over Hartford Saturday.
  • The win earned the Seawolves the final America East Championship bid.
  • Also picked up 13 ground balls.
  • Scored a goal and added an assist.
  • The award is his third Rookie of the Week of the season.

Around the League

  • Albany, UMBC and Stony Brook earned wins Saturday.
  • No. 1 Albany, No. 2 Binghamton, No. 3 UMBC and No. 4 Stony Brook will comprise the America East Championship field.
  • The championship takes place May 1-3 at Stony Brook University with Binghamton facing UMBC in the first semifinal Thursday at 5 p.m. and Albany taking on Stony Brook in the second semifinal at 7:30 p.m.
  • The two winners square off for the league title Saturday at 10 a.m. in a game that will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
  • The Great Danes' (9-5, 5-0 AE) 21-7 win over Binghamton (7-7, 4-1 AE) earned them their second-straight America East regular-season title.
  • Lyle Thompson scored six goals and added four assists in leading Albany to its 10th straight win and 12th in a row over an America East foe.
  • Stony Brook (6-9, 2-3 AE) beat Hartford (6-9, 1-4 AE) to earn the No. 4 seed for the America East Championship.
  • The tournament appearance is Stony Brook's 12th in as many years in the league.
  • UMBC (7-6, 3-2 AE) beat Vermont (5-8, 0-5 AE), 17-14, to keep its streak of never losing back-to-back America East games alive.
  • Phil Poe set program records by winning 28 faceoffs and collecting 20 ground balls.
  • Albany leads the nation scoring 16.0 goals per game.
  • Lyle and Miles Thompson rank first and second nationally in points per game, averaging 7.0 and 6.7 respectively.
  • Lyle leads the country in assists while Miles is tops in goals.
  • Albany leads the nation scoring 15.3 goals per game.
