Release: 05/09/2014

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The three-time America East Women's Tennis Champion, Stony Brook (15-3), is set to take on No. seeded 10 Texas A&M (19-6) in a first-round NCAA match on the home courts of the Aggies. The contest is slated for a 3:00 p.m. EST start.

The Seawolves will enter the tournament riding a 12-match streak, not having dropped a contest since February.

The Aggies were ranked No. 8 in the country before losing in a 4-2 semifinal contest to SEC foe No. 3 Alabama.

The Stony Brook women are making their third-straight NCAA tournament appearance after defeating NJIT, 4-0, for the league title.

Polina Movchan, the 2014 America East Women’s Tennis Player of the Year and 2014 Most Outstanding Player of the AE tournament, will lead the Seawolves into battle with an 11-3 mark at the No. 1 singles position.

Teammate Cassandra Dix, who clinched the semifinal and championship matches with singles victories from the No. 5 spot, sports a spotless 7-0 singles record and has tallied 12 wins in dual matches to lead the team.

Tournament matches will be regulation dual matches with three eight-game, pro-set doubles played for one team point, followed by six singles matches, each valued at one team point, played in best-of-three sets.  Regular scoring will be used and a 12-point tiebreaker will be played at seven-games-all in doubles and at six-games-all in singles.
