Nine America East women's lacrosse standoungs were named to Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) All-Region teams, the organization announced Monday afternoon.
The six America East teams are spread out in both the Mid-Atlantic (Stony Brook and UMBC) and Northeast (Albany, binghamton, New Hampshire and Vermont) regions. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Monday May 19. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on Saturday June 7, 2014 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.
Six of the America East honorees were named to All-Region first teams including a pair of conference major award winners.
Stony Brook had three student-athlete named to Mid-Atlantic All-Region teams including America East Defensive Player of the Year who was the first team goalkeeper. Midfielder Michelle Rubino also earned first team honors, while Alyssa Fleming was named to the second team defense.
In the Northeast Region, America East Co-Offensive Players of the Year, Vermont's Sydney Mas and Albany's Rachel Bowles, headlined four first team selections. Albany's Kathleeen Lennon and Arianna Parker, both all-conference first team honorees, also earned recognition. Vermont attacker Jessica Roach and midfielder Vanessa VanderZalm landed on the all-region second team.
