2014 #AEMSOC Season Starts Friday
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - America East men's soccer teams will look to build off recent success in 2014 as a new season gets underway Friday. The conference has sent a team to the second round of the NCAA College Cup in 10 of the last 13 years, including UMBC accomplishing the feat in three of the last four seasons. All eight America East squads will open the season on Friday, including the reigning champion Retrievers on AmericaEast.TV. Here's the full schedule:
Friday, August 29
Albany kicks off the season by facing Appalachian State in the JMU Invitational at 5 p.m. The Great Danes, who were tabbed fifth in the America East preseason poll, are seeking to reach the league semifinals for a third time in four years in 2014.
New Hampshire, picked third in the preseason poll, visits Northeastern at 4 p.m. Reigning America East Goalkeeper of the Year Travis Worra leads a Wildcat team that ranked among the nation's best defensively last year.
UMBC, winner of the three of the last four America East titles, is the lone team to play at home Friday. The Retrievers host LIU Brooklyn in the Doubletree BWI Invitational at 7 p.m, a game that will air on AmericaEast.TV. All games are available live for FREE in HD and can be viewed on laptops, PCs and mobile devices without the use of an app.
Three more AmericaEast.TV games begin at 7 p.m. with Hartford, last year's runner up which was tabbed second in this year's preseason poll, kicking off its season at Holy Cross, Binghamton playing at Bucknell and Stony Brook visiting Central Conn. State.
Vermont and UMass Lowell wrap up the day's action at 7:30 with the Catamounts visiting James Madison in the JMU Invitational and the River Hawks heading to Monmouth.
